I graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Music Education. Following that, I completed my Bachelor of Education which qualifies me to be a teacher in Ontario classrooms. I have remained a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers
For the past twenty three years, I have been employed by the Toronto District School Board. I worked as a full time Music Educator and School Librarian. As a supply teacher for the Former East York Board of Education and the TDSB, I have covered long term assignments on both the primary and junior levels.
During my teaching career, the Ontario Curriculum has changed into a complex document, even at the primary level. Classroom teachers have a vast amount of subject matter to cover. This is on top of teaching basic literacy and math. The latest Inquiry method of teaching tries to engage children's higher thinking skills.
Let's ensure that children can express their ideas both verbally and on paper. Since gaps in basic literacy and mathematics shows in recent testing, let's "fill that gap". Let's ensure that children have the skills they need to succeed!
